About the opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Internal Audit Manager to join our dynamic team. The Internal Audit Manager will be responsible for overseeing and executing internal audit activities within the organisation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing effective internal controls.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive internal audit plans and programs in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and supervise a team of internal auditors to plan and conduct audits across various departments within the organisation.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, policies, and procedures to mitigate risks and safeguard company assets.
  • Identify areas of potential fraud, waste, or inefficiency and recommend corrective actions to improve operational efficiency and compliance.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including senior management, department heads, and external auditors, to communicate audit findings, provide recommendations, and ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Stay abreast of industry developments, emerging risks, and regulatory changes to enhance the effectiveness of internal audit processes and procedures.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement within the internal audit function and across the organisation.
  • Prepare clear and concise audit reports detailing findings, conclusions, and recommendations for management review and decision-making.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on audit methodologies, best practices, and industry standards to promote professional development and enhance audit capabilities.
  • Support special projects, investigations, and ad hoc requests as assigned by senior management or the audit committee.

 

Skills and Knowledge

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field. Master's degree and/or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CIA, CISA) preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in internal audit, risk management, or compliance, preferably within the insurance industry.
  • Experience in technology audits would be an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of insurance operations, products, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience in managing and developing a team of auditors.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and provide practical solutions.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact confidently with all levels of management and external stakeholders.
