About the Opportunity

This exciting position is ideally suited to an individual with an educational background in accounting or bookkeeping, who has a strong aptitude for numbers and is looking to build a career in insurance. You’ll be joining Interruption Underwriting Agencies (IUA), a specialist agency within the Steadfast Underwriting Agencies Group, focused on Business Interruption Insurance.

 

As an Assistant Underwriter, you will support underwriting operations and broker relationships, contributing to a high-performing and collaborative team.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite new business, renewals, and endorsements within your authority level and in accordance with company procedures.
  • Prepare premium quotations aligned with prescribed rate increases and applicable excesses.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders, including our national broker network and strategic partners.
  • Assist in maintaining and developing strong broker relationships.
  • Support internal teams with underwriting queries and documentation.
  • Contribute to a positive team culture and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong numerical aptitude; background in accounting or bookkeeping preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail.
  • Constructive, goal-driven working style with strong initiative.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and departments.
  • Highly organised and adaptable to change.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Comfortable communicating with stakeholders at all levels.
