Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as principal contact for Group companies in relation to payroll matters (i.e., new employees, terminations, part time hours for processing).
  • Coordinate activities between businesses and existing external payroll services provider in relation to payroll processing on an agreed fortnightly and/or monthly basis.
  • Calculate amounts owing on termination on an ad hoc basis as required by businesses.
  • Process quarterly / annual bonus payments.
  • Perform payroll tax and superannuation reconciliations.
  • Handle child support processing and government paid parental leave.
  • Assist in all levels of businesses with payroll enquiries while building strong relationships and educating employees and managers on relevant systems, processes, and other matters.
  • Coordinate Workers' Compensation returns.
  • Perform ad hoc payroll administrative duties as required.
  • Ensure that a high level of customer service is provided to all internal and external clients.
  • Assist Finance team on queries and reports.
  • Contribute to the climate of active continuous improvement of processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Work with the Payroll Manager and clients to take-on payroll processing.
  • Understand pay codes, timing, reporting requirements, and other matters to standardize processes.
  • Prepare and provide all relevant documentation to assist clients with the necessary change management within their business, as necessary.
  • Assist manager in meeting transition timelines, prioritizing activities, and escalating issues, as necessary.
  • Ensure client engagement and cooperation.
  • Maintain and update documentation requirements (e.g. checklists, templates, manuals/procedures, process maps, KPI’s, dashboards, etc.) of the end-to-end functions and all related supporting functions.
  • Apply knowledge of payroll rules and processes and of company policies in providing quality response to queries and issues.
  • Handle other ad hoc deliverables, as necessary.

 

Desired Skills and Experience

ESSENTIAL QUALITIES AND EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing. Experience in processing AU or NZ payroll in a shared services environment and participation on process improvement projects in the past is a must.

  • Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of organizational and coordination skills.
  • Ability to effectively work with team and others to meet timelines, objectives, and KPIs.
  • Eagerness to take full responsibility and accountability for tasks assigned.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels in a multiple stakeholder environment, e.g., liaising with clients, external service providers, and other relevant divisions or entities within Steadfast Group.
  • Strong interpersonal, stakeholder, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Continuous process improvement mindset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
