Your new role at Steadfast

We are looking for a Risk & Compliance Officer who enjoys creating clarity, improving systems and supporting others to do their best work. 
 
In this role, you will support and strengthen Miramar Group’s risk and compliance framework, working closely with underwriting, product and operations teams to ensure obligations are embedded into everyday business activities. 
 
You will bring your technical expertise, along with a collaborative mindset and the confidence to engage stakeholders, helping the business proactively identify, manage and respond to risk. 

 

What your days may look like

You might start your day by reviewing compliance priorities, monitoring risk registers, or checking in on incidents, breaches or emerging issues making sure nothing slips through the cracks and that the business stays on the front foot.

As your day unfolds, you’ll partner closely with underwriting and business teams, providing practical guidance and helping them navigate regulatory requirements with confidence. You’ll take complex obligations and translate them into clear, actionable steps, supporting teams to embed risk and compliance into their everyday decisions rather than treating it as a tick-box exercise.

Along the way, you may be coordinating responses to incidents or complaints, contributing to regulatory change initiatives, or helping assess the impact of new obligations on the business.

You’ll also spend time preparing insights and reporting risk and compliance updates for leadership, to contributing to board papers and supporting audits or regulatory reviews. Your work will help create visibility, build confidence with stakeholders, and ensure the business continues to operate in a controlled, compliant and commercially sound way.

 

The work you will lead and shape

You’ll have the opportunity to:

• Create: Support and enhance risk and compliance frameworks, policies and procedures 
• Collaborate: Work with underwriting, product, operations and external partners 
• Challenge: Identify risks, assess impacts and support decision-making 
• Deliver: Contribute to regulatory reporting, audits and compliance activities 
• Support: Provide practical guidance and build a strong compliance culture
 
 
You may also maintain registers, manage incidents and complaints, coordinate AFCA responses, assist with business continuity planning, and prepare reporting. 

You may also:

  • Develop underwriting processes and tools to improve efficiency and consistency 
  • Maintain policy systems, documentation and underwriting records 
  • Build technical capability, broker relationships and market insights 
  • Lead smaller initiatives, analysis tasks and continuous improvements 
  • Prepare reports, recommendations and supporting documentation for decision-making 

 

What You will Bring

• Experience in a risk, compliance or governance role within insurance or financial services 
• Working knowledge of ASIC, AFCA and Australian regulatory requirements 
• Strong written communication and attention to detail 
• Ability to maintain audit-ready records

• Exposure to Lloyd’s markets or delegated underwriting arrangements 
• Experience with enterprise risk management frameworks 
• Experience supporting audits or regulatory reviews
