Life at Steadfast

Steadfast is built on a simple belief: none of us are as good as all of us. It shapes how we work, how we support our brokers and partners, and how we show up for each other every day.

Our Together values guide everything we do, we listen, we collaborate, we include, and we back each other to succeed. As Australia’s largest general insurance broker network, we help businesses and communities feel supported, protected and confident in the moments that matter. When you join Steadfast, you become part of a team where your ideas are welcomed, your wellbeing matters, and your growth is genuinely encouraged.

Your New Role at Steadfast

We are seeking an experienced Head of Finance & Business Partnering to lead our business partnering function and help shape the financial future of the business. This is a highly influential leadership role, partnering with executives and senior leaders across Underwriting, Claims, Distribution, Technology, Risk and Corporate functions to drive commercial outcomes and strategic decision-making.

As the most senior SBS Finance leader in Australia, you will play a critical role in supporting business growth, new customer acquisition opportunities, and the ongoing evolution of our finance service offerings. You will combine strong technical finance expertise with exceptional stakeholder management skills, bringing clarity to complex business challenges and ensuring financial insights translate into meaningful action.

Working closely with the GM SBS, Group Finance teams and our Manila-based Shared Services Centre, you will help deliver accurate reporting, robust planning, and high-quality commercial support across our insurance portfolios.

What Your Days May Look Like

You may start your morning reviewing business performance with finance business partners and senior leaders, identifying trends and opportunities that support strategic objectives.

By midday, you could be leading forecasting discussions, analysing the financial impacts of business initiatives, or partnering with executives on investment decisions, pricing strategies or growth opportunities.

In the afternoon, you might be collaborating with our Finance Shared Services Centre in Manila, ensuring financial reporting, budgeting and transaction processing activities are delivered accurately and efficiently, while driving continuous improvement initiatives across the function.

No two days look the same, but every day you will have the opportunity to influence key decisions, support business performance and create meaningful impact across the Steadfast Group.

The Work You Will Lead and Shape

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead the finance business partnering function, providing strategic financial advice and commercial insight to executives and business leaders.
  • Partner with stakeholders across Underwriting, Claims, Distribution, Technology and Risk to translate business strategies into actionable financial plans.
  • Deliver high-quality performance reporting, forecasting, budgeting and commercial analysis that supports informed decision-making.
  • Drive scenario modelling, profitability analysis, pricing reviews and financial planning activities.
  • Collaborate with the Manila Shared Services Centre to ensure the delivery of timely, accurate and efficient financial services.
  • Influence continuous improvement initiatives that enhance processes, reporting capabilities and service delivery outcomes.
  • Lead annual planning cycles, quarterly forecasts, long-range strategic planning, capital planning and regulatory reporting activities.
  • Develop and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and commercial acumen.
  • Contribute to broader SBS strategic initiatives as a member of the SBS Senior Leadership Team.

What You Will Bring

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, with CPA or equivalent professional qualification essential.
  • 10 years' progressive finance and accounting experience, including significant leadership experience within a large-scale finance shared services or business partnering environment.
  • Experience within insurance, financial services or a similarly regulated industry.
  • Strong understanding of insurance financial operations, including claims, policy administration, reinsurance and regulatory reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience leading financial planning and analysis, business partnering and performance reporting functions.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate complex financial information into practical business insights.
  • Experience working with enterprise financial systems such as SAP, Oracle or Workday.
  • Proven leadership capability with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across all levels of an organisation.
  • A passion for continuous improvement, innovation and leveraging technology to enhance finance operations.
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls, governance and financial compliance frameworks.
  • Flexibility to collaborate effectively across global time zones when required.
